5. Anti-acne diet - A healthy diet is always a good idea but there is no scientific evidence that diet plays a role in acne outbreaks. If you eat foods that seem to worsen your acne then by all means don't eat them but the increased acne may be caused more by the placebo effect as opposed the food itself.
Benzoyl peroxide on the other hand, works by introducing oxygen into the pore thereby killing the p.acne pimple causing bacteria. The p.acne bacteria cannot live in an aerobic or oxygen rich environment. Normally, you can start with a 5% strength gel or solution. Although there are higher percentages available, it might cause skin irritation. Hence, using facial products with benzoyl peroxide decreases the chances of getting zits and pimples.
We all agree as far as common sense dictates that a well balanced diet is good in fact ideal for living well (this also includes the skin) But eating your chocolates, pizza and all those "junk" has not been scientifically proven to cause Acne.
